About me

I'm a Ph.D. student in Prof. Jordan's lab at Georgia Tech. I love all things related to human genetic ancestry - the exciting stories that emerge, the tools that help accomplish this, and the wonderfully complex underlying biology. I'm also especially interested in how your genetic ancestry is tied to health outcomes with regards to drug response and disease prevalence.

When I'm not in the lab, I enjoy reading books, trying new cuisines, and traveling!

Some of my projects here at Tech

1. Population pharmacogenomics for precision public health in Colombia

In an effort to bring precision medicine to Colombia, we engaged with local collaborators to study population-specific drug response profiles hoping to uncover drugs that might not be as effective in patients belonging to specific ancestral groups. You can read more about it here.

2. Mezcal: Inferring local genetic ancestry at scale

In the era of biobanks, a lot of the tools available to the genetic ancestry research community don't scale. We're working on a solution that employs conditional random fields parametrized on rando forests to predict the ancestral origins of genome-wide haplotype blocks which is ~50x faster compared to the current state of the art without any significant loss in accuracy.
